Synopsis

Having survived the sinking of the Titanic by boarding a half-empty lifeboat, the Duff Gordon’s are called in to testify in front of the British Inquiry on trumped up charges of bribery and cowardly behavior. The play looks back at how a scapegoat is created in times of public mourning and how what we remember is unreliable and fluid. Based on the actual transcript of the The British Inquiry into the Sinking of the Titanic and the memoirs of Lady Duff Gordon: Discretions and Indiscretions both in the Public Domain, the play weaves through the flash like quality of traumatic events and how we bend what we remember to achieve peace of mind.
